What We Do

Heat pump replacement that helps Belmar homeowners eliminate frequent breakdowns and high energy bills

Covering old unit removal, electrical integration, refrigerant line connections, and performance testing to verify heating and cooling capacity meets manufacturer specifications.

  • Like-for-Like Replacement

Direct swap with compatible new model, old unit removal, and testing

  • Upgrade Replacement

Variable-capacity system with smart thermostat and improved efficiency

Why Us

Variable-capacity systems sized for Belmar's mesa elevation and urban cold

When repair costs approach replacement price and your 20-year-old unit breaks down every season, upgrading to a modern heat pump makes financial sense.

Common Challenges

  • Frequent breakdowns on aging units

20-year-old heat pumps fail repeatedly, leaving you without heat during urban cold snaps

  • Inefficient operation drives bills up

Older models run at 60-70% efficiency vs 90%+ for modern variable-capacity systems

  • No smart thermostat compatibility

Outdated systems lack Wi-Fi integration, preventing remote control and scheduling

How We Help

  • Variable-capacity compressors cut bills

Modern units modulate output 25-100%, matching load instead of cycling on-off like older models

  • Smart thermostat control from anywhere

Wi-Fi thermostats let you adjust temperature remotely and track energy usage in real time

  • Proper defrost cycles for urban cold

New systems handle Belmar's dry winds and cold snaps with demand-defrost technology

  • Old unit removal and disposal handled

We remove your existing heat pump, disconnect refrigerant lines, and dispose of the old unit

  • Performance testing verifies capacity

Post-replacement testing confirms heating and cooling output meets manufacturer specifications

About This Service

About this Service

Heat pump replacement in Belmar removes an aging outdoor unit and indoor air handler, replacing them with a like-for-like or upgraded unit sized for mixed-use residential buildings. It suits retail-residences, flats above shops, and infill homes where mini-split or compact air-source systems replace old packaged equipment.

Urban flatland and modest mesa elevation give flexible outdoor unit placement, but technicians must account for dry, gusty winter winds and limit noise at retail fronts. Replacements include refrigerant recovery per EPA Section 608, electrical integration, and commissioning to verify defrost cycles.

Resulting outcomes are lower energy use, smart-thermostat compatibility, and steadier temperatures; most swaps take one day. Allow contingency for hidden ductwork or service panel upgrades; final performance testing verifies heating capacity at local conditions.

FAQ

Common questions about heat pump replacement in Belmar

Clear answers about replacement costs, timing, and what to expect during installation.

Older heat pumps operate at 60-70% efficiency vs 90%+ for modern units. Frequent repairs add up quickly, and when repair costs exceed 50% of replacement cost, you're throwing money away. A failed heat pump in winter means no heating or hot water, with emergency replacement costing 20-30% more than planned installation. Annual energy waste alone can exceed $400.
Replacement cost depends on system size, efficiency rating, and whether you choose like-for-like or upgrade to variable-capacity. A 3-ton like-for-like replacement typically costs $5,000-$8,000 installed. Upgrading to a variable-capacity system with smart thermostat runs $8,000-$12,000. Federal tax credits and utility rebates can reduce upfront cost by $2,000-$4,000. We provide itemized quotes before work starts.
Yes. Heat pumps typically last 15-20 years. At 20 years, efficiency drops significantly, refrigerant leaks become common, and parts are hard to find. Modern variable-capacity systems deliver 90%+ efficiency vs 60-70% for older models, cutting energy bills by 25-35%. If repair costs exceed $2,500 or your unit breaks down twice a season, replacement makes financial sense.
Most modern heat pumps have similar footprints to older models, but variable-capacity systems may require different electrical service. Our technician measures your existing installation, checks electrical capacity, and confirms the new unit fits before ordering equipment. If space is tight, we recommend mini-split systems that don't require outdoor pad placement.
Like-for-like replacement typically takes 6-8 hours for a single technician. Upgrade replacement with electrical service upgrades or smart thermostat integration can take 8-12 hours. We schedule replacement to minimize downtime, and most installations complete in one day. Performance testing adds 1-2 hours to verify heating and cooling capacity.
The $5000 rule suggests replacing your heat pump if repair cost multiplied by system age in years exceeds $5,000. Example: a $500 repair on a 15-year-old unit equals $7,500, signaling replacement makes more sense. This rule helps you avoid throwing money at an aging system that will fail again soon.
Yes. Modern variable-capacity heat pumps operate efficiently down to -15°F, well below Belmar's typical winter lows. Demand-defrost technology prevents ice buildup during dry wind conditions. We size systems for mesa elevation and urban cold, ensuring reliable heating when you need it most. Performance testing after installation verifies capacity in local climate conditions.

We have known Kevin Camblin for a decade. First of all, he is fully licensed and insured. I not only hired him to install furnace in my rental, last year we hired him to install new AC in our new home. The home builder had the copper lines preinstalled (refrigerant). When Kevin finished the AC install, he found and repaired the copper line the BUILDER accidentally punctured with a nail. (this leak was in basement ceiling). Outstanding workmanship on Kevin’s part and we went with an upgrade on our new AC - reason was it is more efficient and super quiet. Give this company a call. High integrity and competitive price. AVOID THE BIG CHAINS because the others have high overhead!
I have had terrible luck with furnaces in my homes. Not only has Bear Creek Heating & Air replace one furnace but two. My first home and then my second when I moved into a townhouse. In true emergency it was the dead of winter and woke up to a home that was less than 50 degrees. Their team worked efficiently to see was available and do it for a fair and reasonable cost. I would highly recommend this company! I've had my furnace now for a couple years and zero problems!
